ECNEC Approves Several Projects Across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council on Wednesday approved the project for the construction of the Khawazakhela-Besham Expressway at the cost of around 79. 131 billion rupees.

ECNEC, in a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, considered and approved the summary of the Ministry of Communications in this regard, the Finance Ministry said in a news release.

The 48-kilometer expressway project, which would be financed entirely through the Federal Public Sector Development Programme (FPSDP), would be executed by the National Highway Authority (NHA) in the districts of Shangla and Swat districts, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The committee also accorded approval to the project “Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme” of the Ministry of Planning and Development, to be executed by Higher Education Commission in Islamabad at the cost of 16,801.230 million rupees, including FEC of 15,166.250 million rupees. The project would be financed by the Federal Government and completed within 2 years, 2023-2025.

The committee approved the project “Modernization of Hydromet Services of PMD in Pakistan” of the Aviation Division at the cost of 14,498.875 million rupees to be executed across the country by the Pakistan Meteorological Department. It would be financed by the World Bank (WB) as a component of the “Post-flood 2022 Reconstruction Programme”.
