ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee of the federal cabinet on Monday approved Hajj Policy and agreed to provide foreign exchange cover of 90 million dollars.
Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony presented the summary to this effect before the cabinet committee meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar.
Hajj quota for Pakistan
As per policy Hajj quota of Pakistan for the ongoing year is 179,210, which would be divided between the government and private hajj schemes at a ratio of fifty-fifty, the finance ministry said in a statement.
Out of the private and government hajj schemes, the ministry said a quota of 50 percent each would be reserved for sponsorship, adding that the tentative hajj package for the Northern region is Rs.1,175,000/- and for the Southern Region is Rs.1,165,000.
