Dubai Will Promote Sustainable Green Economy

DUBAI: Saeed Mohammed Al-Tayer, CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority said that Dubai’s production capacity of clean energy has reached 2,027 MW. He vowed that Dubai will promote sustainable green economy as the current clean energy capacity of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is about 14 % of total power production capacity. 

He expressed the statement during his visit to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Solar Park. The park will have a generation capacity of 5,000 MW by 2030, using CSP technologies and PV solar panels.

Green Economy

He also inspected the progress of work of the park, where 417 mw was connected to DEWA’s grid station.  Al-Tayer added that they are working to promote the transition towards a sustainable green economy and sustainability.

He said that they obtain this by diversifying sources of energy and further increasing the share of renewable energy in Dubai. He said that they will achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy and Dubai Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy to supply 100 % of Dubai’s total power generation capacity from clean energy by 2050.
