Dubai has designated the creek side of the Al Jaddaf neighborhood as the site of a new urban technical district so as to serve as a living laboratory for Innovation and Urban Technology.
The district, which Unlimited Rhythm Body (URB) developed, welcomes entrepreneurs to establish a collaborative digital ecosystem. The project will also create over 4,000 jobs in urban technology, education, and training. The district will house rooms for communal desks, dedicated offices, conferences, research, training, and company incubation. It will also house an Urban Technical Institute, which will support public-private collaborations and invest in applied research in an effort to promote innovation.
The development’s rationale rests on the notion that these centers for innovation and research can influence how cities of the future will be built. The technologically advanced metropolitan area aims to address problems with energy production, water harvesting, food availability, and zero-waste management.
In general, the Urban Tech District seeks to offer innovators and entrepreneurs the assistance they require to create more livable and resilient cities.
