RIYADH: Authorities in Saudi Arabia made several arrests across the country in recent days amid many raids.
In one of the incidents, Border Guard land patrols in the Al-Ardah sector of the Jazan region on Saturday foiled the smuggling of 300 kg of the narcotic plant qat or khat. The security men in the Jazan region also intercepted the smuggling of 160 kg of qat in the Al-Dayer area.
Preliminary, the officials completed the legal procedures, and the seized items were handed to the concerned authorities.
Meanwhile, police in the Najran area arrested a citizen for trafficking amphetamine, marijuana, and regulated medical tablets. In Addition, Firearms, live ammunition, weapons, and mobile phones were recovered from him. He was apprehended and taken for necessary legal proceedings.
The General Directorate of Narcotics Control apprehended another citizen in the Turaif governorate of the Northern Borders region for carrying amphetamine. In addition, the directorate also arrested two Pakistani residents in Riyadh for trafficking heroin and methamphetamine.
They were arrested, and legal measures were taken against them before their referral to the Public Prosecution.
Security patrols in the Hafar Al-Batin governorate in the Eastern Province apprehended a Bangladeshi resident for trafficking methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken for further legal measures.

The General Directorate of Narcotics Control reaffirmed its commitment to stop drug smuggling and tighten customs procedures on imports and exports.
