ANBAR: Rockets and drones targeted on Thursday evening the Ain al-Asad air base, which hosts American and other international troops in Iraq, and multiple explosions were heard inside the base, Reuters reported.
Drones, Rockets Target Iraqi bases housing American Troops
Reuters citied security sources as saying that the Iraqi army said it closed the area around the base and also initiated a search operation after the explosions. It was not clear yet whether or not the attacks caused damages or casualties, Reuters maintained.
Similarly, Iraqi police said on Thursday that rockets have targeted another army base hosting US troops near Baghdad’s airport, but the police did not provide further information.

Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the US troops shot down two drones and damaged a third in Iraq during the last 24 hours, adding US personnel wounded in one drone attack, Western media reported on Wednesday. However, it did not provide more details over the matter.
In a statement, CENTCOM said that the US forces defended against 3 drones near US and coalition troops in Iraq. CENTCOM said that the US personnel engaged two drones in Western part of Iraq. It confirmed that the US forces suffered minor injuries in one incident. It maintained that one drone was destroyed while the second one was damaged during the last 24 hours.
