Drones and Autonomous Vehicles Vital to Meet Emerging Challenges to Maritime Security: Pakistan’s Naval Chief

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Naval Chief, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, has stressed the importance of sustained combat readiness to counter both conventional and non-conventional threats within the maritime domain, a military statement said on Wednesday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Chief of the Naval Staff made the remarks while presiding over the Command and Staff Conference of Pakistan Navy at the Naval Headquarters (NHQ).

He underscored the importance of “maintaining perpetual combat readiness” to effectively counter “both traditional and non-traditional threats in the maritime domain”.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf praised the Pakistan Navy’s strong maritime defence capabilities showcased during the recent Maraka-e-Haq operation, reaffirming the force’s steadfast commitment to national security.

He also commended the efforts made to maintain uninterrupted maritime trade routes and ensure smooth operations at the country’s ports.

He stressed the growing significance of advanced surveillance technologies, including the use of drones and autonomous surface and underwater vehicles, to enhance operational efficiency and maritime situational awareness.

The conference brought together principal staff officers and field commanders to evaluate key policies, operational preparedness, and strategic initiatives of the Navy.
