ISLAMABAD: A drone attack by the terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on a cricket ground injured three in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, security sources said.

Three individuals were injured following a drone attack by Khawarij (TTP) on a cricket ground in Shahi Tangi, located in the Mamund Tehsil of Bajaur, according to the sources.

Fitna al-Khawarij is a term used by the state to refer to terrorists of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The attack was carried out by the Khawarij while a match was in progress. Local sources report that the injured have been immediately shifted to the hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment, sources said.

Following the incident, security in the area has been placed on high alert. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the Khawarij perpetrators.

Tribal elders and the local community have strongly condemned the incident, demanding that the “Fitna al-Khawarij” be completely eradicated from the area to ensure public safety.

It is well-documented that Fitna al-Khawarij utilizes quad-copters against civilians to spread terror and achieve their nefarious goals; several videos of such tactics have surfaced previously.

Resorting to soft targeting of innocent civilians is a consequence of the Khawarij fear of being neutralised during engagements with Security Forces.

It may be recalled that on Thursday, Pakistan’s security forces killed 13 terrorists belonging to the banned TTP terrorist group while foiling two infiltration attempts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The TTP terrorist group is based in Afghanistan and is involved in terrorist attacks in Pakistan. The terrorist group, according to UN reports, enjoy support from the Afghan Taliban regime.

Pakistan has repeatedly called on the Afghan Taliban to eliminate terrorist sanctuaries within their territory, particularly those associated with the TTP, but officials say these demands have not been acted upon.

Pakistan, on February 26, launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq against terrorist groups operating from across the border.

Targeting of innocent civilians unacceptable

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, in a post on X, the inhuman, violent spate of deliberate targeting of innocent civilians by Afghans Taliban regime in border districts of KP is unacceptable, insidious, and reflective of their barbaric nature towards human life.

“Resorting to targeting civilian areas after being comprehensively beaten on ground by proud security forces of Pakistan and having no courage to face them is not only despicable but also speaks volumes of the low moral character of the regime leaders,” he said.

He said today again, unfortunately, three civilians while playing cricket were injured due to the blatant and shameless quadcopter targeting by Fitna al Khwarij.

“Conversely, Afghan Taliban regime so called representatives continue to lay frivolous false allegations of deliberate targeting of civilians by Pakistan,” he added.
