Dozens Wounded in Attacks on Hostels of Pakistani Students in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK: Dozens of Pakistani students were reportedly injured in mob violence around student hostels in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on Friday night, local media reported.

According to some section of media, a recent fight between local Kyrgyz people and Egyptian students has been wrongly blamed on Pakistani students, leading to violent assaults on their hostels in Bishkek

The attackers forcefully entered the hostels rooms, and tortured and wounded several students. There are various unconfirmed reports of casualties in these assaults.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s embassy in Kyrgyzstan issued an advisory to the Pakistani students in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan to stay indoors until the situation return to normal. As per media reports, the embassy is also in touch with the local law enforcement officials to ensure safety Pakistani students.

In social media post, Pakistan’s ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Hasan Zaigham assured that the embassy was also in contact with the local law enforcement agencies to ensure safety of the Pakistani students.

The ambassador also shared helpline numbers +996555554476 and +996507567667, asking the students to call in case of any emergency.
