WASHINGTON: United States of America former President Donald Trump is expected to appear in federal court on Thursday to face charges related to his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.

The arraignment is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in a Washington, D.C. courtroom, where he is likely to enter a plea of not guilty before the magistrate judge.

Police and sniffer dogs have gathered outside the court, while scores of reporters from the world’s media camped overnight to seek a spot inside. However, cameras are not allowed in the courtroom.

The indictment alleges that Trump, along with six other unnamed co-conspirators, plotted to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election. This marks Trump’s third criminal indictment since March and poses the most serious threat to his potential return to the White House.

Other Charges Against Donald Trump

In addition to the current charges, Trump is already scheduled to go on trial in Florida in May of next year for charges related to taking top secret government documents to his Mar-A-Lago estate and refusing to return them. He also faces criminal charges in New York for allegedly paying hush money to a porn star before the election.

On his Truth Social platform, former President Donald Trump strongly criticized what he referred to as the “unprecedented weaponization” of the Justice Department. He accused President Joe Biden of attempting to level numerous fabricated charges against him, stating that the aim is to concoct as many crimes as possible.

In response to the situation, Trump wrote, “But soon, in 2024, it will be our turn.” Meanwhile, President Biden maintained his silence regarding his rival’s legal troubles.
