KARACHI: The US dollar strengthened against the Pakistani rupee for the eighth straight session on Friday after a marginal appreciation.
According to details, the local currency depreciated by 10 paisa against the greenback which is being traded at Rs221.5.
After several sessions of depreciation, the dollar made a comeback last week when its value increased by 5 paisa to close at Rs218.43 in the interbank, while in the open market it surged by Rs4 to close at Rs226. The rupee’s recent depreciation comes despite assurances of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to bring down the dollar below 200 against the local currency.
