ISLAMABAD: A gala dinner was held here at a local hotel the other day to recognize services to print, electronic, social and digital media.
According to details, a gathering of professional journalists and media was held to honor their services in the field of journalism.
One of the prominent political, social and business personalities of Murree, PML-N leader Asmar Ahmed Abbasid graced the occasion as the host.
Editor of Roznama Ausaf and ABN news channel Mehtab Khan and senior journalists Javed Saddique and Tikka Khan were the chief guests on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion of thanking the participants, PML-N Chairman Asmar Ahmed Abbasi said, “Pen is a powerful weapon to raise voice against social injustice and inequality happening in the society through writing. It’s a real asset to any professional journalist.”
He declared: “A journalist, in my perspective, is someone who upholds all journalistic ethics prior to publishing a story.
He said: “Unfortunately, there are only a few professional journalists these days. There are many people who have joined social media now and claim to be real journalists, but in reality they don’t even have the basic knowledge of journalism.”
“They are only playing the target rating (TRP) game, which is disheartening,” said Asmar Abbasi.
“I ask newcomers to take guidance from senior journalists on responsible and ethical journalism and learn through their experiences to excel in the profession.”
He continued, “I also ask experienced journalists to assist their fledgling colleagues by imparting their wisdom to them so that they have a promising career in media.
