ISLAMABAD: The three-day Disability Leadership Training, a collaborative initiative by Pathfinder Solutions, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and the Internet Society Accessibility Standing Group, concluded in Islamabad on Thursday.
The training’s objective was to foster leaders capable of effectively advocating for digital rights and internet governance, according to a press release. The workshop featured comprehensive sessions, engaging discussions, and insights from notable speakers.
Chairman of PTA, Maj Gen (retd) Hafeez Ur Rehman, emphasized the significance of inclusivity and accessibility in the digital landscape during the event. He assured continued PTA support for digital inclusion in the country, citing several initiatives aimed at promoting the socio-economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
Dr. Muhammad Shabbir, Chief Executive Officer of Pathfinder Solutions, expressed gratitude to Chairman PTA for his consistent support. Emphasizing the principle of “nothing about us without us,” he highlighted that genuine change arises from empowering those directly affected.
At the certificate distribution ceremony, training participants were honored, with representatives from various sectors, including government officials, NGOs, and disability rights advocates, in attendance.
