Pakistan Army Slams India’s Ceasefire Violations, Propaganda Against Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Army Spokesperson, Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry slammed India for continuing propaganda against Pakistan, adding that India committed several ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in the current year.

The DG ISPR said, beginning the briefing with the current situation on Pakistan’s eastern border with India and the Line of Control (LoC). He said that the situation at the Line of Control (LoC) is completely under control. While criticizing New Delhi for its “fake propaganda”, the DG ISPR said that India’s “fake propaganda show India’s political agenda,”.

He said that Pakistan had organised sixteen visits to the LoC in the last few days, which also included the participation of Secretary General of OIC and international media. He maintained that “no such trip was organized by India, which suggests that it wishes to hide the reality of the situation in [occupied] Kashmir,”. He said, “India’s propaganda against Pakistan continues,” He noted that Pakistan had taken UN observers to the Line of Control several times, while India had not done the same.  He said India had committed several ceasefire violations along the Line of Control this year, and Pakistan had also taken down six Indian spy quadcopters. He said India had violated the LoC ceasefire 56 times in the current year, which included 3 violations of airspace, twenty-two incidents of speculative firing, 6 ceasefire violations and twenty five technical airspace violations. The DG ISPR said that the Pakistan Army had blown down 6 quadcopters, stating that the “Pakistan Army is ready to deal with any such attempts by India”.

DG ISPR discusses terrorism situation in Pakistan

He also discussed the terrorism situation in the country, adding that the contacts between the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Baloch insurgent organizations and foreign intelligence agencies have been proven. Pakistan’s army spokesperson said that police, security forces and other law enforcement agencies remained engaged in foiling terrorist attempts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The DG ISPR assured that the country’s armed forces remained focused on ensuring border security in the country. He said, “In this connection, Pakistan’s forces have taken appreciable steps, tracked down terrorist networks, and we continue to do so.” Sharing more details, the DG ISPR said 436 terrorist attacks had taken place in Pakistan during the current year, during which 293 people were martyred and 521 wounded.

Security forces had conducted 8,269 intelligence-based operations

He said security forces had carried out 8,269 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in the current year. He maintained that 1,525 terrorists were arrested or killed during these operations.  He added that 3,531 operations were carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 519  in Sindh and 119 in Punjab in the current year. He added that to rid Pakistan of terrorism, over 70 operations are conducted daily in the country.  The DG ISPR said that it is very significant to note that there are no “No-Go areas” in the country today due to the sacrifices of the army and the public.  He added “illegal arms and ammunition have also been recovered from terrorists … and their facilitators and planners are also being tracked down,”. He disclosed that the suicide attack on a mosque in Peshawar in January was conducted by “the banned militant group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar on the banned TTP’s orders, and the attacker belonged to Afghanistan”.

Maj-Gen Sharif maintained the attacks on Karachi Police Office and Peshawar Police Lines were reflective of the “nefarious intents of terrorists” and suggested that “they have nothing to do with the Islam or state”. He said the suicide bomber who carried out the attack in Peshawar was identified and arrested from Bajaur. He added that the masterminds of an attack on the Karachi police office were also captured, and the terrorists had taken 3 million rupees to conduct the attack.  The DG ISPR highlighted that the war against terrorism in the country was unprecedented and would continue until the last terrorist was eradicated. He said that 137 security personnel had been martyred so far in the current year, while 117 had been injured.

CPEC

He emphasized that attempts to sabotage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects and other mega projects were being thwarted, and all projects were being provided full security.

Moreover, he said that 98 percent of the work on the 2,611-kilometre fence between Pakistan and Afghanistan had been completed, while 85 percent of the work on the fence on the border close to Iran had also been completed. The DG ISPR said that no group or individual would be permitted to take the law into hands, and different social welfare programs had been announced following slashing the army’s budget.

We are not supporters of any particular political ideology or party: DG ISPR

Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that Pakistan’s army is the national army, and they pay respect to all politicians and political parties in the country. He added, “We are not supporters of any particular political ideology or party. The Constitution of Pakistan gives every citizen the right to freedom of opinion on social media as per law and constitution”. Pakistan’s army spokesperson said that irresponsible statements against the country’s Army on social media are unconstitutional and politically motivated. He added, “some social media accounts are being used by “hostile foreign agencies”.

Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry  said that the purpose of the press conference was to elaborate on the Army’s professional activities, including analyzing its counterterrorism operations.
