HAVANA: Developing countries on Saturday declared September 16 the annual “Day of Science, Technology and Innovation in the South” as they did homework to wrap up a two-day conference on the subject, Reuters reported.

“We note with concern the current inequalities between developed and developing nations in terms of conditions, and capacities to generate new scientific knowledge,” the final declaration of the G77 group and China said.

“We urge the world, the UN System and the global Financial Institutions to back the efforts of the nations of the South to develop their national science and innovation systems,” the organization stated.
The statement also cited the epidemic and inadequate distribution of vaccines. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said on Friday that United Nations data indicates that 10 nations account for 90 percent of copyrights and 70 percent of exports of digital production technologies.
