ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to further strengthening engagement with Turkiye in key priority areas.
He expressed the resolve during a meeting with Turkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Irfan Neziroglu, who called on him in Islamabad on Friday, a Foreign Office statement said.
Ishaq Dar stressed the need for relevant departments on both sides to closely coordinate preparations for the forthcoming Joint Commission and the 8th Session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council to advance the bilateral agenda.

The meeting also underscored the importance of continued coordination between Pakistan and Turkiye to deepen cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
“During the meeting, the Turkish Ambassador briefed the Deputy Prime Minister on progress under various bilateral institutional mechanisms aimed at advancing cooperation across a range of areas, following recent high-level interactions between Pakistan and Turkiye,” the statement said.

On August 7, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed the Makkah Joint Defence Alliance to strengthen collective deterrence against any act of aggression, which stipulated that an armed attack against any of the three countries would be regarded as an attack on all.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed the agreement.
