BRUSSELS: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Thursday urged European companies to explore the immense investment potential of the South Asian country.
Deputy PM Dar made the offer during a meeting with Members of the European Parliament at Pakistan House in Brussels, a Foreign Office statement said.
“They exchanged views on enhancing Pakistan-EU cooperation in various areas of mutual interest as well as on regional and global developments,” it said.
Ishaq Dar elaborated on Pakistan’s attractive investment prospects across key sectors like agriculture, textiles, housing, and information technology.
He said that Pakistan attaches special importance to its multilateral and bilateral ties with the EU and considers it a vital pillar for peace, stability, reconstruction, and development.

The meeting was attended by key MEPs, including the Chair of the South Asia Relations Committee, Vice-Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, coordinators of the International Trade Committee, Security and Defense Committee, and Foreign Affairs Committee, as well as key EU parliamentarians.
Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, EU Ambassador to Pakistan Raimundas Karoblis, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the EU, Belgium, and Luxembourg Rahim Hayat Qureshi were also present.
Ishaq Dar informed the EU businessmen that, as the world’s fifth-most populous nation with more than 60% of its population comprising youth, Pakistan has emerged as a growing economy offering promising opportunities for international investors.
He went on to say that the GSP Plus mechanism between Pakistan and the EU had significantly increased the volume of bilateral trade and investment.
The Deputy Prime Minister is in Brussels to attend the Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum and to co-chair the seventh Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue alongside his counterpart, Kaja Kallas.
The visit follows Dar’s trip to Russia, where he participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
