Dense Fog Likely in Plain Areas of Punjab, KP, Sindh

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met) has forecast dense fog to occur in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh during the next 24 hours.

Cold and dry weather in most parts of the country is likely today, while very cold in upper parts and north Balochistan. As per the synoptic situation, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country.

Air quality

The air quality in Lahore is 222 US AQI; in Bahawalpur, it is 242, 173 in Muridke, and 188 in Rawalpindi. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi is 181 US AQI, 175 in Mirpur Khas, while Islamabad’s air quality stands at 173. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, air quality is 208 in Peshawar and 67 in Abbottabad.

Recorded temperatures

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (MET), a maximum of 10 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 7°C in Lahore, 20°C in Karachi, and 8°C in Peshawar, -3.5 °C in Quetta and 5°C in Gilgit.

Minimum recorded temperatures

Today’s Recorded Lowest Minimum Temperatures (°C): Leh -16, Astore, Skardu, Ziarat -11, Kalam, Gupis, Hunza -09, Kalat -08, Parachinar, Gilgit -06, Quetta, Rawalakot, Bagrote and Dir -05.
