JEDDAH: Denmark’s Foreign Affairs Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen has condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran, during a telephone call with Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The OIC Secretary-General received a phone call from Lars Lokke Rasmussen, the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs. During their conversation, the OIC Secretary-General conveyed the concerns of member states regarding the repeated disrespect of the Holy Quran and Islamic symbols, all under the pretext of freedom of expression, according to APP.
OIC Secretary-General urges Denmark to prevent Quran desecration incidents
He urged the Danish authorities to take necessary actions to prevent such occurrences.
In response, the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his government’s condemnation and denouncement of any disrespect towards the Holy Quran.
He emphasized their strong disapproval of such actions and assured him that the matter was being closely examined with utmost concern.
The Minister reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to maintaining friendly relations and fostering cooperation with the OIC member states.
