Dengue Outbreak: Punjab Reports 165 New Cases

LAHORE: The dengue outbreak continues to pose a significant threat in Punjab as 165 new cases have been reported.

According to the Health Department spokesperson, the data indicates 13,213 confirmed dengue cases spread across 36 districts in Punjab this year. Among these, Lahore remains the most severely affected with 5,926 cases, followed by Rawalpindi with 2,589, Gujranwala with 1,353, Multan with 1,285, and Faisalabad with 734 cases.

The situation remains concerning, as Lahore reported an additional 103 cases, Rawalpindi 03, Gujranwala 22, Multan 03, Faisalabad 16, Sheikhupura 06, Narowal 04, Bahawalpur 02, and Lodharan 02 cases within the last 24 hours. Okara, Sahiwal, Chakwal, and Nankana Sahib reported 1 case during the same period.

Currently, 123 dengue patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals across Punjab, with 65 cases being treated in Lahore district hospitals. The health authorities are actively working to address the situation and implement measures to control the spread of dengue in the affected areas. —APP
