ISLAMABAD—–Despite a fall in temperature, the number of dengue fever patients has increased in Islamabad.
During the last 24 hours, 122 new persons tested positive for dengue fever. The data released on Wednesday by District Health Office Islamabad shows an increase in positive cases. The data shows that around 4000 dengue fever patients are currently under treatment in various private and public sector hospitals in Islamabad.
During the last 24 hours, a total of 122 new cases of dengue fever in Islamabad were reported taking the total number to 3986 patients in Islamabad, with nine people lost their lives so far in the capital city fighting this deadly virus.
This increasing number of dengue fever patients is putting an extra burden on government sector hospitals that are already using their total capacity.
Sixty-one out of the total cases were admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), which was already providing treatment to 905 dengue patients. Federal General Hospital Chak Shehzad received 7 new patients, CDA hospital 4, Quaid-e-Azam hospital 5, Holy Family 4, and 32 were reported in private sector hospitals.
As many as 58 new cases reported from the rural areas took the total number of positive cases from rural areas to 2313, and 64 new patients of urban regions made the total 1673 positive cases registered in urban areas this year.
