ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (MET) has forecast dry and cold weather in most parts of the country as the demand for traditional winter delights increases.
Furthermore, rain/thunderstorm is likely at isolated places in Gilgit Baltistan and upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Winter delights
The demand for traditional winter delights has increased with the increasing intensity of cold in the country. The food outlets and markets of the federal capital can be seen jam-packed with food lovers buying popular winter items like Chicken Corn Soup, Doodh Jalebi, Gajar ka Halwa, Kashmiri Tea, Samosas, Pakoras, fried fish and dry fruits etc.
Foggy conditions
During morning hours, foggy conditions will likely develop over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.
As per the synoptic situation, a westerly shallow wave is present over the upper parts and western parts of the country and likely to persist in the upper parts during the next 12 to 18 hours.
Air quality in different cities in Pakistan
The air quality in Lahore is 171 US AQI; in Bahawalpur, it is 233, 99 in Muridke, 189 in Rawalpindi, and 82 in Sialkot. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi is 178 US AQI, while Islamabad’s air quality stands at 153. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, air quality is 187 in Peshawar and 82 in Abbottabad.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met), a maximum of 7 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 12°C in Lahore, 19°C in Karachi, 11°C in Peshawar, 1°C in Quetta, and 3°C in Gilgit.
