Defence and Martyrs’ Day: Pakistan PM Pays Rich Tributes to Valiant Sons of Soil

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tributes to the valiant sons of soil and brave heroes of armed forces of Pakistan, who fearlessly fought, and defeated India that attacked Pakistan across the international border on this day in 1965, a statement said on Friday.

In his message on the occasion of Defence and Martyrs’ Day, the PM stated that Pakistan believes in talks over conflict and in cooperation over confrontation. He added “Our aim is to create an atmosphere where all countries can prosper and address problems like education, poverty, health, and education”.

The Prime Minister said Kashmir is the unfinished agenda of partition that needs immediate settlement as per the UNSC resolutions.

Defence Day of Pakistan

The aim of the Defence Day of Pakistan is to highlight the valor and resilience of the Armed Forces of Pakistan during 1965 Indo-Pak war.  The day symbolizes the resilience, courage, and unity of the Pakistani nation and its military forces in the face of aggression. It is a reminder of the collective effort to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.  Defence Day is a day to pledge that nation will always remember the sacrifices of its Armed Forces by honoring the martyrs while acknowledging their courage and fighting spirit. The day reminds us that our military is committed to national freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

President Zardari Vows to Defend Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity of Motherland

Earlier, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed unwavering resolve to defend sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland against all threats, a statement said on Friday.

In his message on the occasion of Defence and Martyrs’ Day, the President stated Pakistan’s armed forces are vigilant and ever-ready to respond to any challenge.  President Zardari paid rich homage to Ghazis and Shuhada, who rendered immense sacrifices and bravely defended the nation against external aggression.

He stated that Pakistan seeks peace and stability in the region and is committed to peaceful coexistence with all neighbours.  However, enduring peace is only possible when suffering of the people of Kashmir is ended.
