GAZA CITY: The Gaza Strip witnessed a grim escalation in the conflict on Monday as the death toll surged to 560, according to the Palestinian health ministry, amidst continuous Israeli airstrikes targeting residential and commercial buildings. Since the surprise attack on Saturday, when Hamas resistance fighters stormed Israel amidst a barrage of rocket fire, the situation has remained dire in the beleaguered region.

The health ministry reported that 560 people have been martyred, and another 2,900 have been injured since the launch of Israeli airstrikes. The relentless violence has left a devastating impact on the densely populated enclave, pushing medical facilities to their limits and leaving civilians in a state of constant fear.

The ongoing conflict has created a humanitarian crisis, forcing thousands of Palestinian families to flee their homes and seek shelter in overcrowded facilities, exacerbating an already dire situation.

Meanwhile, the Arab League has convened an extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers to discuss the ongoing “Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip” following the surprise attack launched by Hamas Resistance group on Israel. The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday in Egypt’s capital, Cairo, with the aim of exploring political solutions at both the Arab and international levels amidst the escalating conflict.

Arab League deputy chief Hossam Zaki stated that the meeting will focus on finding “avenues of political action” in light of Israel’s continued aggression and airstrikes in Gaza following Saturday’s attack.
