ISLAMABAD: A suicide blast in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, on Tuesday, which killed at least 12 people and injured 27 others, sparked widespread condemnation from countries around the world.

A suicide bomber detonated explosives outside Islamabad’s Judicial Complex, killing at least 12 people and injuring 27 others, in what authorities described as a terrorist act orchestrated by an Indian-backed and Afghan Taliban–facilitated militant network, “Fitna-ul-Khawarij.”

The “Indian-sponsored” terrorist group, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing. The banned TTP terrorist group is based in Afghanistan and involved in terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.

“Judges, lawyers and officials who carried out rulings under Pakistan’s un-Islamic laws were targeted,” the Afghanistan-based TTP terrorist group said, threatening more attacks until Islamic law is implemented in the country, according to a statement issued by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a splinter group of TTP.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that militants operating from Afghan soil were responsible for the suicide bombing outside Islamabad’s Judicial Complex.

Naqvi said the attacker detonated his explosive vest near a police vehicle, failing to enter the heavily guarded court premises in the capital’s G-11 neighborhood.

The minister warned that continued tolerance of such groups inside Afghanistan would compel Pakistan to take “its own measures” to ensure national security, adding that the assault was part of a pattern of cross-border militancy aimed at destabilising Pakistan’s cities.

Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, in a statement on X, conveyed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to Pakistan on the tragic loss of life and property caused by the car bomb explosion in Islamabad, in which several people were killed and injured.

He reiterated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s principled and unequivocal stance, emphasising that it strongly condemns all forms of violence and terrorism and prays for the swift and full recovery of those injured.

The United States Embassy, in a statement, said Washington stands in solidarity with Pakistan in the struggle against terrorism.

“Our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in today’s senseless attack. We wish a swift recovery to those injured,” it said.

“We condemn this attack and all forms of terrorism and remain committed to supporting the Government of Pakistan’s efforts to ensure peace and stability in their nation,” it further said.

The European Union also posted a statement on its X account, stating, “We are deeply saddened and appalled by the tragic loss of lives in today’s terrorist attack in Islamabad.

“The EU unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms. Our thoughts are with the bereaved families, and we wish a swift recovery to all those injured.”

A statement from China’s Embassy in Pakistan read: “We strongly condemn the suicide blast near Islamabad District Judicial Complex, extend our deepest condolences to the deceased victims, express our sincere sympathies to their families and the injured, and we wish for the early recovery of the injured.”

The Turkish Foreign Ministry, in a statement, strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Islamabad.

“We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured in this heinous attack,” the foreign ministry said.

It added that Turkiye will continue to stand in solidarity with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.

The State of Qatar also denounced the attacks in Islamabad and Wana. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirms Qatar’s firm stance rejecting all forms of violence, terrorism, and criminal acts, regardless of their motives or justifications.

“The Ministry expresses the State of Qatar’s sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Pakistan, and wishes a swift recovery to the injured.”

Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam also strongly condemned the attack.

“Terrorism is the ominous design of cowardly elements who seek to destabilise our region and obstruct its path toward the sustainable development objectives. This chronic plight, imported and fueled by malicious machinations, is a shared menace across the region, where traitorous elements, hand in hand with international terrorism, target peace, security, and stability,” the Iranian Ambassador wrote on X.

“Confronting this ominous phenomenon demands collective, determined and united efforts by all countries to uproot every form of terrorism and violent extremism that has claimed the lives of countless innocent people over the past decades,” he said.

The Foreign Ministry of the Afghan Taliban also expressed its deep sorrow and condemnation regarding the explosion in the capital, Islamabad, as well as the attack on an educational center in Wana, Pakistan, which has claimed tens of lives and left many wounded.
