Ishaq Dar says the government will meet all external debt repayments on time, including the IMF program
ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that the government is committed to completing the IMF program and honoring the repayment of all external debt on time.
He was meeting with the representative of the People’s Republic of China Nong Rong who visited him on Tuesday in Islamabad. The Minister of Finance welcomed the representative of the Republic of China and expressed the long and strong relationship between the two countries.
It is reported that China and Pakistan have strong bilateral relations in many economic fields. Both parties discussed deepening these relationships in the economic and financial sectors.
The Finance Minister said he was saddened by the death of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin and said it was a great loss for China as well as Pakistan because Mr. Zemin is a good friend of Pakistan. The Minister of Finance, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar highlighted the ongoing reconstruction and restructuring program being carried out by the current government.
The finance minister praised the support of the Chinese government in these difficult times and said that the current government is taking various measures to protect the vulnerable sections of society. It was also shared that the government of Pakistan has a reasonable plan to meet all the upcoming expenses related to the reconstruction and rehabilitation program in the flood-affected areas.

The Chinese delegation appreciated the government’s policy initiatives to support and strengthen fiscal and monetary stability. He shared a goodwill gesture and assured that the Chinese government continues to support Pakistan, and added that the Chinese government supports the Pakistani people and is ready to provide all possible assistance.
