Dar Highlights Reform Agenda During Meeting with Chinese Finance Minister

BEIJING, China: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Chinese Minister of Finance Lan Fo’an on Thursday.

Dar emphasized Pakistan’s reform agenda focusing on governance, revenue, and ease of doing business to attract Foreign Direct Investment.

He highlighted Pakistan’s high priority for investments from China, particularly in sectors like agriculture, IT, mines and minerals, and renewable energy. Both officials expressed appreciation for Pakistan-China financial and banking cooperation, considering it a manifestation of the ‘All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership’.

They discussed ideas to enhance financial cooperation, especially with growing business-to-business (B2B) linkages. The Chinese finance minister commended Pakistan’s economic agenda and reiterated China’s support for Pakistan’s financial stability efforts.

He also praised Dar’s contributions to strengthening financial and banking cooperation between the two countries.
