ISLAMABAD: A photograph of former Pakistan Test cricketer Danish Kaneria has been removed from the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, India, amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

Kaneria, a wrist-spinner, represented Pakistan in 61 Test matches and 18 One-Day Internationals.

He claimed 261 Test wickets at an average of 34.79, including 15 five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket match hauls.

Kaneria played in 11 Tests and two ODIs against India, taking 44 wickets. As tensions between the two nations continue to mount, his image has been removed from the Jaipur stadium.

He credited Inzamam-ul-Haq as the only captain who offered him support, alongside Shoaib Akhtar.

Blocking social media accounts

“I was performing well in my career and was also playing county cricket. Inzamam-ul-Haq supported me a great deal and was the only captain who did. Along with him, Shoaib Akhtar. Shahid Afridi and several other players made life difficult for me,” Kaneria said.

India has restricted access to the social media accounts of several prominent Pakistani cricketers, including national team captain Mohammad Rizwan and star batsman Babar Azam, in the wake of a deadly attack in Pahalgam, situated in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The Instagram profiles of several well-known Pakistani sports personalities and celebrities, such as fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, Olympic gold medallist javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, and actors Hania Aamir and Ali Fazal, have also been blocked from view within India.
