NEW YORK: Dalvin Cook has sealed a one-year contract with the New York Jets in a significant deal worth up to £8.6 million, as confirmed by National Football League (NFL) Network.

The former Minnesota Vikings star, a three-time Pro Bowler, brings with him a track record of consistently surpassing 1,000 rushing yards in recent seasons.

The Jets’ running back group, which already features the returning Breece Hall and Michael Carter, is strengthened by Cook’s addition to the roster. The Jets also signed second-year player Zonovan “Bam” Knight and welcomed newcomer Israel Abanikada via this year’s draft. Additionally, Oregon native Travis Dye, an undrafted free agent, has been signed.

After Carter’s comments following the Jets’ preseason victory against the Carolina Panthers, this signing quickly followed. With his one-year contract, Dalvin Cook joins Aaron Rodgers as a marquee addition to the Jets, boosting New York’s hopes for the upcoming season.

With this acquisition, the Jets become the first NFL team to sign a Pro Bowl quarterback and a Pro Bowl running back in the same offseason. The Jets, who had a 7-10 record the previous year under coach Robert Saleh, are ready to put on a better show this time around.

The commencement of the Jets’ 2023 campaign is scheduled for September 11th when they take on the Buffalo Bills. Cook’s arrival not only enhances the team’s capabilities on the field but also elevates the expectations for a triumphant season, characterized by his dynamic playing style and Rodgers’ quarterback expertise. This dynamic duo marks an exceptional chapter in the Jets’ journey towards a successful campaign.
