BEIRUT: Daesh terrorist group has confirmed the killing of its leader during clashes in northwestern Syria.
In a recorded message, its spokesman said Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurashi was killed in Syria.
He said its leader was killed during clashes in Idlib province of Syria. He did not mention the specific time of the killing of the terrorist leader.
The spokesperson further said Abi Hafsan al-Hashimi al-Qurashi would serve as the new leader of the terrorist group.
According to the group its previous leader, Abu Hasan al-Hashimi al-Qurashi was also killed in November last year.
The terrorist group, also known as Islamic State (IS) emerged in Iraq in 2014, taking control of some areas in the country to establish a so-called Islamic State.

Later the group was defeated in 2017 but still carrying attacks in the Muslim world from hidden cells.
Daesh a threat to world peace
Saudi Arabia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan in a joint press conference with his American counterpart in June this year said the kingdom is taking measures to stop the reemergence of Daesh.
He warned that the Deash had become a danger to the entire world.
Recently, the IS has claimed responsibility for a suicide attack in Pakistan, killing at least 54 people at a religious, political party gathering.
