PRAGUE, Czech Republic: Czech police discovered around 30 migrants in a semi-trailer on a motorway between Prague and Dresden, Germany, on Monday, with one person tragically found dead.
The truck, with foreign license plates, was stopped by police after 1800 GMT, leading to some migrants fleeing the scene.
A helicopter was deployed to locate the escapees, all of whom were eventually detained. The deceased, a woman in her 30s, was found unconscious and could not be revived despite extensive resuscitation efforts.
The other migrants, though in poor health, did not require hospitalization. The Czech Republic serves as a transit route for migrants aiming to reach wealthier European nations like Germany.
