COLOMBO: Three people were killed and over 21,000 have been affected due to the adverse weather effects caused by cyclone Mandous as per Sri Lanka’s Disaster Management Centre (DMC) on Monday.
The Disaster Management Center (DMC) said 19 people were injured. From 16 districts, 6,113 families have been affected, while 5,639 houses in various parts of the country have been damaged.
Affected people to be compensated
Deputy Director of Disaster Management Center Pradeep Kodippili told the media that those affected will be compensated and that they are already assessing the damage caused by cyclone Mandous.
The Disaster Management Center (DMC) said the effects of Mandous have reduced at a great level but still requested persons to take precautions.
