COLOMBO: Cyclone Mandous killed three and injured 19 people in Sri Lanka on Monday, Disaster Management Centre (DMC) in the Asian country said.
The adverse weather conditions caused by they have affected over 21,000 people in the island country.
The DMC said in a statement that nineteen people were injured in the calamity that hit 6,113 families in sixteen districts. It also damaged 5,639 houses in various parts of the country.
Government to compensate Cyclone affected people
Pradeep Kodippili, DMC Deputy Director, said that the process of assessing damage has started and the affected people will be compensated.
It added that the intensity of the Mandous has reduced greatly but people are still required to take precautions. – APP/Xinhua
