ISLAMABAD: The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa), in partnership with the Federal Directorate of Education, the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir Culture Department and, arranged a three-day “Kashmir Cultural Festival” to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on Sunday.
The festival’s main objective was to promote the Kashmir cause through a cultural perspective while reaffirming solidarity with the innocent Kashmiri people struggling for their right to self-determination in the Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The main segments of the festival included Kashmiri patriotic songs, Kashmiri Artisans-at-work, Kashmiri folk crafts, Kashmiri folk songs, Kashmiri folk paintings, a photo exhibition on Kashmir, Kashmir musical evening, Kashmiri cuisine, promotional stalls to promote Kashmir cause, screening of video documentaries on Kashmir, stage drama on Kashmir, and display of banners inscribed with slogans in favour of Kashmir cause.
She said that the Indian forces are violating human rights in the IIOJK and trying to destroy the cultural identity of the people of Kashmir.
Festival features Kashmiri folk songs
The festival featured Kashmiri folk songs, Kashmiri patriotic songs, and songs in which young artists paid rich tribute to the Kashmiri people and expressed solidarity with Kashmiris on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Many people, including Kashmiri youth and families, attended the event.
Kashmir musical night event at Kashmir Cultural Festival was held at Lok Virsa open-air theatre while Stage drama to highlight Kashmir’s cause was presented.
Kashmiri artisans-at-work, Kashmiri folk paintings display, and photographic exhibition on Kashmiri cuisine and Kashmir continued daily during the festival.
