ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: On the direction of Inspector General of Punjab Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has launched a crackdown across the province.
The decision has been taken in the view of recent incidents of terrorism across the country.

According to the CTD spokesman, Aamir Zulfiqar Khan has directed CTD authorities to speed up the intelligence-based search and combing operations in all districts of Punjab and continue to wipe out anti-social elements involved in terrorism and extremism.
The CTD spokesman said that, during the crackdown, CTD teams conducted 33 combings and search operations at 34 different places in different districts during last 24-hours, in which 1549 suspicious persons were interrogated while 815 persons were subjected to the biometric verification.
