ANKARA: A Cristiano Ronaldo autographed shirt from Turkish football player Merih Demiral’s personal collection would be up for auction, with proceeds going for relief work after the recent earthquake.
Demiral said he would do what he could to assist the natural disaster victims after a 7.7-magnitude earthquake on Monday collapsed buildings and killed thousands of people, including a professional football player. He is auctioning the item after speaking with the Al-Nassr forward who signed the shirt when he played at Juventus.
The Turkish centre-back wrote on Twitter that he spoke with Ronaldo, who expressed grief about what happened in Turkey.

Other footballers joining the call
Demiral’s post immediately received tens of thousands of likes, with other football players joining the call and offering up their memorabilia.
The 24-year-old, now part of Atalanta, played alongside Ronaldo at Juventus. He has 35 senior caps with Turkey.
Demiral will be donating the collected amount via the Turkish charity Ahbap.
Other organisations, including the Turkish Red Crescent and Save The Children, were among the groups accepting donations to provide on-ground aid to those affected by the quake in Turkey and Syria.
