Crackdown on Gas Pilferage: SNGPL Disconnects Another 223 meters

LAHORE: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) launched a series of raids in Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in an unwavering effort to combat gas theft, leading to the disconnection of 223 connections and fines totaling Rs. 11.78 million.

According to a spokesperson of SNGPL, the regional team took immediate action in Lahore, disconnected 20 connections for using gas illegally, six connections for compressor usage, and processed 12 under-billing cases. The team also imposed fines of Rs. 4.28 million.

Meanwhile, 22 connections using illegal gas and five involved in compressor usage were disconnected in Bahawalpur. Teams have also disconnected seven connections in Multan.

According to the details, the regional team disconnected 13 connections in Sheikhupura, while in Peshawar, SNGPL’s crew disconnected 46 connections and five in Mardan.

Gujranwala witnessed the regional team disconnecting seven meters, two in Sargodha and 25 connections in Islamabad.

In response to illicit use, SNGPL acted against three customers in Sahiwal, four in Faisalabad, and six in Sialkot. —APP
