Crackdown Against Electricity Thieves in Faisalabad, Rs53.6m Fine Imposed on 492 Pilferers

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), during the crackdown over the last seven days, imposed 53.6 million rupees as a fine on 492 power pilferers and recovered 3.3 million rupees.

Tahir Sheikh, FESCO Spokesman, said on Wednesday that the anti-theft teams conducted a thorough checking of electricity supply meters and detected power stealing at 492 points in different parts during the last week.

He said that the company had imposed 53.6 million rupees as fine of 1415,000 detection units on power thieves in addition to getting FIRs lodged against 205 accused.

Crackdown in last 24 hours

During the last twenty-four hours, the teams, however, caught 128 power thieves and imposed 13.8 million rupees on them as a fine of 449,000 detection units, he added.
