ISLAMABAD: The Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G) has sought a Rs1.17 per unit increase in power tariff for January under the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) mechanism.
CPPA’s statement
In a petition to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on behalf of power distribution companies (DISCOs), the CPPA-G stated that the actual cost remained at Rs 11.7269 per unit in January, compared to the reference fuel charges of Rs10.5541 per unit.
During the specified period, a total of 8,514.85 GWh of electricity worth Rs95.388 billion was generated, while 8,185.98 GWh of net electricity was supplied to power distribution companies.
Out of the total generation, 9.40 percent was generated by hydel, 28.70 percent by coal, 5.44 percent by furnace oil, 13.46 percent by local gas, 15.10 percent by RLNG, 22.03 percent by nuclear, and 3.37 percent by wind. On February 28, the regulator will hold a public hearing. The proposed increase will be passed on to all consumer categories except lifeline.
