ISLAMABAD: Chinese Charge d’Affaires in Pakistan, Madam Pang Chunxue, on Tuesday highlighted the significant role of the multi-billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in driving a profound socio-economic transformation in Pakistan.
She delivered these remarks at a special event commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) and CPEC, organized by the Pakistan-China Friendship Association (PCFA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province at KP House Islamabad.
Madam Pang underscored the enduring nature of the Sino-Pakistan friendship and highlighted China’s esteem for its relationship with Pakistan.
She emphasized the CPEC’s key status as a cornerstone of President Xi Jinping’s visionary Belt and Road Initiative, which holds paramount significance in elevating the socio-economic landscape of nations on a global scale. Madam Pang also noted that the visit of President Xi Jinping’s special envoy, the Chinese Vice Premier, to mark the decade of CPEC celebrations, is expected to further fortify economic activities.
CPEC’s Socio-Economic Impact
Advocate Sawal Nazir, KP Minister for Local Government, Elections & Rural Development, said that the Pakistan Economic Corridor, renowned as CPEC, plays a vital role in bolstering Pakistan’s economy. Advocate Nazir reiterated Pakistan’s role as an “iron brother” poised to harness the benefits of multi-billion-dollar initiatives, fostering shared prosperity. He emphasized the importance of drawing insights from China’s experiences across various domains to enhance the nation’s well-being.
Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani, Secretary-General of PCFA-KP, extended a warm welcome to Chinese dignitaries and esteemed guests, highlighting the exceptional elevation of Sino-Pakistan relations.
Gilani emphasized the critical need to deepen the understanding of China in Pakistan and to facilitate people-to-people interactions through diverse channels. He stressed Pakistan’s commitment to emulating China’s regulations and policies, driving socio-economic advancement and uplifting the nation.
Gilani shared that PCFA-KP roots trace back to 1970 when it was established as the Pak China Students Friendship Association. He underscored the association’s important role in designating Peshawar-Urumqi and Abbottabad-Kashgar as sister cities in 1985 and 2007, respectively.
