CPEC a Game Changer, Economic Uplift Plan for Pakistan: Jamal Shah

PESHAWAR: Caretaker Federal Minister of Culture and National Heritage Jamal Shah has said that the Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has become a game changer for the region and would usher a new phase of economic development in Pakistan, adding that those who wanted to sabotage would never be succeeded.

The federal minister said this during his visit to the China Window (a Chinese cultural Centre) in Peshawar on Saturday. During his visit, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s internationally renowned actors Javed Babar, Ishrat Abbas, Ahmed Sajjad, Khalid Khattak, Zulfiqar Qureshi, Sohail Asad, Wasima Younis, Miss Saeeda, Hameedullah Khan and personalities from different walks of life were also present on this occasion.

The federal minister also visited various galleries of China Window, signed the friendship wall, and recorded his comments in the guest book.

Meanwhile, talking to the media, Jamal Shah said that in recent years, work was stopped on CPEC; however, the caretaker prime minister has given clear instructions to the concerned departments and authorities to accelerate the work on the mega project to complete the ongoing projects on time.

CPEC to Boost Pak-China Friendship Further

Appreciating the mega project, the minister said that it attracted investors from all over the world  which would have far-reaching effects on boosting the economy of the country. Commenting on China’s longstanding friendship, Jamal Shah said that both nations have had historic friendly ties for decades, which would be further strengthened through CPEC.

While referring to the recently planned film, he said that the movie would be released soon, both in Pakistan and China. He further said that there were about 80,000 cinemas in China; however, the situation in Pakistan remained dismal. However, China would play a significant role in the revival of film and cinema in Pakistan.

“Pakistan’s film industry needs substantial support, and assistance from China holds a significant value, particularly the emerging and largest film market in China”, he pointed out.

Jamal Shah also appreciated the role of China Window in Peshawar for playing crucial in Pakistan-China friendship across the province, including Peshawar, adding that the centre has done significant services in the promotion of Chinese culture in a very short period of time. He added that another such centre Silk Route Cultural Centre Quetta was in the pipeline and if implemented, both the centres would initiate joint ventures to have their unput in bringing masses of the two nations closer. Earlier, Administrator of China Window Amjad Aziz Malik apprised the Federal Minister about the role and performance of China Window in the province, adding that the number of visitors to the China Window has increased with the passage of time where the institution has now become the centre of academic, literary, cultural and social events.

Earlier, during a visit to Radio Pakistan Peshawar the same day, the Federal said that the caretaker government would fulfill its constitutional obligations while leaving no stone unturned to support the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold free and free elections in the country.

He also further said that the attack on Radio Pakistan Peshawar and APP Office on May 10 was an unpardonable crime and demanded Strick action against the attackers.

He appreciated the employees of Radio Pakistan for their tiring efforts in restoring transmission after the attack.
