Covid claimed 30,638 lives so far
Covid-19 has so far claimed 30,638 lives in Pakistan. It is important to mention that earlier, NIH confirmed that the XXB omicron variant was confirmed in Pakistan, and a total of 29 cases of this variant have been reported. However, NIH denied the rumors about detecting the BF-7 variant, which recently caused havoc in China.
According to reports, the new coronavirus strain causing an outbreak in China is a subvariant of the highly contagious Omicron variant known as BF.7 or BA.5.2.1.7. The risk of the new strain entering Pakistan has grown with the lifting the lockdown in China and freedom of travel.
While presiding over the review meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed satisfaction that Pakistan’s Covid-19 crisis was under control but gave the relevant authorities instructions to ensure that children between the ages of 5 and 12 were vaccinated immediately.
