RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Friday suspended a non-bailable arrest warrant of Federal Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah Khan, issued by a special magistrate for failing to appear in an inquiry regarding Bismillah Housing scheme.
Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan heard the case and he stopped the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab from taking any actions on the arrest warrant. He also ordered ACE to refrain from raids against the minister and present the relevant records in the case, a local TV reported.
The order came after the interior minister’s counsel advocate Razzaq A. Mirza filed a petition on his behalf, which stated that the arrest warrants against Rana Sanaullah had been obtained through misinterpretation.
The court has summoned ACE along with the case records in next hearing on October 17.
The arrest warrant against the federal minister had been issued on October 8 at the request of ACE Punjab in an inquiryrelating to an estate in a housing society that was purchased at a nominal price.
