ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial said on Monday that the court would not interfere in economic issues as it did not have the required expertise.
The CJP expressed these views while heading a 3-member bench hearing a case related to K-Electric’s privatization.
During the proceedings, CJP asked the petitioner’s counsel Rashid Rizvi to approach the concerned high court.
The top judge said that the Parliament had made 2 laws related to clause III of Article 184 and asked whether any old case was scheduled for hearing so the matter could be observed live.
Advocate Salahuddin replied that an application had been submitted against the KSC Labour Union.
Upon this, Justice Ayesha Malik said the issue was not before the court yet.
Supreme Court Summer Vacations
The petitioner’s counsel pleaded to adjourn the hearing till next week. To this, CJP Bandial said that the apex court would start observing summer vacations from next week, and judges would not be available.
He directed the counsel to receive instructions before the next hearing.
Subsequently, the bench adjourned the case till Tuesday.
