JERUSALEM: As the Israel-Hamas conflict intensifies, thousands of foreign nationals find themselves stranded in Israel and the Palestinian territories, prompting several countries to initiate large-scale evacuation efforts. The conflict, marked by a significant loss of lives, has led nations worldwide to launch operations to repatriate their citizens, ensuring their safety amidst the ongoing war.
Argentina, home to the largest Jewish population in Latin America, has commenced evacuating more than 1,200 of its citizens from Israel. Three air force flights daily will transport these individuals to Rome, from where state-owned airline Aerolineas Argentinas will fly them to Buenos Aires.
Brazil’s government plans to mobilize at least six planes to swiftly repatriate its citizens from Israel and the Palestinian territories. Approximately 14,000 Brazilians reside in Israel, with an additional 6,000 in the Palestinian territories.
Evacuation From Israel and Palestine
Nigeria has successfully airlifted over 300 citizens who fled to Jordan from Israel, where they were on a Christian pilgrimage, organizing their travel by road to Jordan and then a chartered flight to Lagos.
Swiss International Air Lines has repatriated 220 Swiss nationals, with additional flights scheduled in the coming days to bring back more citizens. Around 28,000 Swiss citizens and their families are officially registered in the region.
Spain, South Korea, Canada, France, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Portugal, and Finland have all initiated evacuation plans for their citizens, coordinating special flights and transport arrangements to ensure their safe return amidst the escalating conflict.
