RAWALPINDI: Corps Commanders Conference (CCC) has emphasized the need for national consensus amongst all stakeholders to address ongoing political instability as a priority so as to restore public confidence, reinvigorate economic activity, and strengthen the democratic process. The military top brass also resolved to support all such efforts to reach this much-needed national consensus, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.

General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), presided over a Special Corps Commanders Conference (CCC) held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday, ISPR reported in a press release. The conference paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives while combating terrorism and defending the nation.

The forum acknowledged the successful counterterrorism and intelligence-based operations conducted by the security forces in the country. It particularly praised the valiant response of the troops in the recent Muslim Bagh attack and expressed deep admiration for the supreme sacrifices made by the brave soldiers.

The prevailing internal and external security environment was extensively discussed during the conference. The forum took comprehensive stock of the law and order situation, which had recently been disrupted by incidents driven by vested political interests.

It was briefed that a well-coordinated arson plan had been executed to tarnish the image of the military institution and incite an impulsive reaction. The plan involved the desecration of martyrs’ pictures and monuments, the burning down of historical buildings, and the vandalism of military installations. The forum strongly condemned these politically motivated incidents targeting military installations and public/private properties.

Corps Commanders Vow Action Against Attackers of Military Installations

The commanders conveyed the anguish and sentiments of the army’s rank and file regarding these unacceptable incidents. They affirmed that the armed forces possess irrefutable evidence regarding the planners, instigators, abettors, and perpetrators of these attacks. Attempts to distort the facts in this regard were deemed futile.

The forum reiterated the firm resolve to bring those involved to justice through trials under relevant laws, including the Pakistan Army Act and Official Secret Act. Restraint will no longer be exercised against perpetrators attacking military installations and setups.

The forum also expressed concern over externally sponsored and internally facilitated propaganda warfare aimed at creating divisions between the armed forces and the people of Pakistan, as well as within the armed forces themselves.

The military top brass emphasized the defeat of such malicious propaganda with the support of the Pakistani people, who have consistently stood with the armed forces during challenging times. The strict implementation of social media rules and regulations was stressed to penalize violators.

The forum concluded with a firm resolve that, with the full support of the Pakistani people, the Pakistan Army will thwart all nefarious designs of the country’s enemies by the will of Allah.
