PESHAWAR: In an attack on police, escorting an anti-polio team in Upper Orakzai on Tuesday, police personnel was martyred while three of the terrorists were killed in retaliatory firing by the security forces, official media reported.
APP cited SDPO, Upper Orakzai, Muhammad Rahim as saying that the incident occurred in Dabori Badan area of Upper Orakzai where terrorists attacked an anti-polio team, and martyred a police personnel, Sayyed Hameed.
Another police personnel, Muzammil sustained injuries in the attack. The injured policeman was immediately shifted to DHQ Hospital Orakzai by the police.
APP reported that security forces swiftly responded to the attack and killed three of the terrorists and arrested another in wounded condition.
Large contingents of police and security troops rushed to the area soon following the incident and started a search operation in the region.
