Condolences Pour in as Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf Dies

ISLAMABAD: As the news of the former president general (r) Pervez Musharraf’s death spread across the country, messages of condolence started pouring in.

President Dr. Arif Alvi offered prayers for the former army chief and extended condolences to the former president’s family.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also offered his condolences to the former president’s family and prayed for the departed soul.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and services chiefs also expressed condolences over the passing of the former army chief.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf senior leader Fawad Chaudhry also, in a tweet, prayed for the departed soul. “Pervez Musharraf passed away. He was a great person, his friends emerged as little. Pakistan first was his thought and ideology always. May God have mercy on him,” he said.

Condolences from India

Member parliament from India’s main opposition Congress party, Shashi Tharoor tweeted “once an implacable foe of India, he became a real force for peace 2002-2007”.

Pakistan’s former ambassador at the United Nations also prayed for the departed soul. Wife of Muhammad Yasin Malik, the Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Mushaal Hussain Mullick extended condolences to the grieving family and the loved ones.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani also expressed deep sorrow over the sad demise of Pervez Musharraf in a series of tweets.
