Commissioner Peshawar for Strict Implementation of Dengue Action Plan 2023

PESHAWAR: Muhammad Zubair, Commissioner Peshawar Division, on Thursday stressed the strict implementation of Dengue Action Plan 2023 in the true spirit, directing all civic bodies to maintain coordination to eradicate larvae and raise public awareness.

The commissioner while presiding over a meeting expressed his satisfaction with the steps taken to prevent the dengue virus in all 5 districts, directing all deputy commissioners of the division to remain in the field to cope with the illness.

The commissioner was informed that the situation this year is more satisfactory than in 2022 due to the timely steps taken throughout the year. In contrast to the total of 760 cases last year, only twenty cases have been recorded in Peshawar division and the travel history of all cases is also available. Around seventeen cases have been recorded in Peshawar, 2 in Khyber and one case in Nowshera.

The commissioner also issued directives for the door-to-door visits by lady health workers to raise awareness about the virus.

He instructed for immediate initiation of steps under the strategy for September and October and obtaining of Larva Clearance Certificate (LCC) from the heads of public offices.

Policy to achieve targets in Peshawar Division

In order to achieve better targets the Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera administrations were directed to get the services of one hundred volunteers from the Pakistan Red Crescent and inking of an early deal with the organization in this regard.

The commissioner also directed the Capital Police Officer Peshawar to ensure cleanliness and fog spray in the police stations to control the spread of the larva.
