ABU DHABI: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Faisal Niaz Tirmizi has emphasized the importance of investing in women’s empowerment to accelerate development and progress.
The envoy highlighted that addressing women’s economic disempowerment is necessary. The ambassador also emphasized the significant of ensuring inclusivity by engaging women in many sectors including economic, political, and cultural spheres.
The ambassador has welcomed participants gathered to commemorate World Women’s Day at a grand event organized at the premises of the Embassy in Abu Dhabi, APP reported.
He said that this day is a reminder for their collective efforts to achieve gender equality in all spheres of society. The envoy said that the current statistics on gender equality highlight the need for more solid efforts to achieve their goal of women empowerment.
Tirmizi further said that the event’s significant special feature was an in-depth interactive panel discussion with exciting Pakistani women with acclaimed triumphs and accomplishments in diverse sectors which included Zulfia Nazir, football player, Kiran Malik actor, Mehr F. Husain journalist and Shazia Ali Khan filmmaker.
A documentary showcasing Pakistani women from different sectors made by Pakistan’s Women Parliamentary Caucus was also shown during the event, and participants lauded the efforts and achievements of Pakistani women.
